So, what’s going on today?

It was about 100° again today and will be hot again tomorrow, but then it's supposed to start cooling off and get a lot more comfortable.

I heard some planes fly over today, but they were so high in the sky I couldn't even see them. They were probably F35s and always fly so high that they're out of sight. Usually, the only way I know they’re there is the high-altitude contrails they sometimes leave in the sky. I can see their weaving and bobbing contrails, so I know they're not a commercial airliner, and the F-35s are extremely loud even though they're so Far away I can't see them.

I might go to town tomorrow. I could use some groceries and a few gallons of drinking water and refill a propane tank. It's been so hot that I've been drinking a lot of water. I've got two kinds of water in the camper: I've got water in the tank that I use for washing up, and I buy gallons of water for drinking. Many stores in the desert have 25 cent per gallon drinking water machines outside, and I try to keep 5 gallons of potable water around just for drinking and making coffee.

Girls on the firing line.

I can't believe how much junk this archer girl has hanging around her waist. She's only going to spend five minutes on the firing line shooting a few arrows, then she will be free to go wherever she needs to go, and get whatever she needs to get. I don't know why she has to carry everything around her waist... I've taken less stuff than this on vacation!

Early this morning, just about sunup, I heard a shuffling noise outside the camper and stuck my head out the door to see what was going on. It turned out to be a small herd of eight or ten cattle passing through, nibbling on some brush and enjoying the brisk morning air. Most of the land around here is free-range, so after spending a few minutes enjoying this bucolic scene, I wished them a "good morning" and went back to my cup of coffee.
