Making up my mind

I woke up this morning figuring on staying one more day in the Phoenix area, but before I had finished my cup of coffee, a powerful feeling of being in control of my life swept over me, giving me the initiative to stand up and make a command decision.

Now, that sort of decisiveness doesn't come over me very often, and when it does, I usually stomp it out as quickly as possible lest it become a permanent part of my personality. That kind of decisiveness can only lead to disturbing attributes such as thinking ahead, making plans, scheduling things, and, worst of all, making reservations so far ahead of time I may stroke out before they ever come due.

But this time I went with the flow, and figured I was running out of things to take pictures of and that's not good when you're only hobby is taking pictures of things. So I packed up the camper, and after stopping at the new truck stop half a mile away for some propane, I pointed my truck West and, an hour later, pulled into Constellation City Park in Wickenburg, Arizona, where I cautiously slid a $20 bill for two days worth of boondocking into the Iron Ranger's bottomless belly and found myself a nice spot to boondock.

Last night’s sunset. I’ve been in two major forest fires, which qualifies me to say that this looks much more like a forest fire than a sunset.

My new boondocking spot at the Constellation City Park in Wickenburg, Arizona. Despite its appearance, I do not make nor sit around a campfire. The campfire ring was already here, and my lawn chair was sitting out in case I had to leave my site to go to town.

The City Park is situated among the hills, so walking around the campground requires rock climbing equipment to avoid falling off your campsite. This doesn’t bother me; it reminds me of Colorado boondocking.
