Hitting the road tomorrow
This is my last day at the City Of Rocks State Park, so today was spent preparing to leave tomorrow morning. Now, there's not actually much to do physically; I can put things away in the kitchen and drive out of here in 15 minutes. So, most of my traveling preparation is mental... But even that's pretty simple. Since my home truly is wherever I'm parked, it doesn't take me long to get used to a new place since that new place is also home.
I'm looking forward to getting to Tombstone; why? Because I look forward to any place I'm going... Remember? The only place I like better than where I'm at is where I'm going. But the problem for a traveling man is whenever I get somewhere, I'm no longer where I'm going but where I'm at. And as soon as I'm there, I want to be where I'm going. But then where I'm going will end up becoming where I've been, which was once where I was at, which makes me want to get going.
It will be good to be in Arizona again; it is more consistently warm there than in southern New Mexico. Looking at the weather forecast for Tombstone, Arizona, days will be in the 70s instead of the 60s, as they are where I am now. Nighttime will still be pretty chilly, but it looks like there will be temperatures above freezing, so that's an improvement.
I'm thinking that after I stay in Tombstone for a while, I'll visit the Sandhill cranes at Whitewater Draw. I really enjoy being there and being able to boondock just a five-minute walk from the lakes where they live makes it even more special.
