Still at Dome Rock

I refilled a propane tank this morning, drove by one of the laundromats in town, and found the parking lot completely full, so I guess I'll try again some other time. I returned to the Dome Rock boondocking area because it's one of my favorite places to boondock, and it’s not as crowded as many other places. I've still got some things I need to do in Quartzsite, so I will stay around here until sometime next week.

I don't know where I want to go when I leave here, maybe Wickenburg, Arizona, or possibly up to Lake Havasu. There's plenty of free boondocking in both places, and they are both on Arizona trust lands. If I go to Lake Havasu, I'll be near water since the Colorado River runs through it, but in Wickenburg, I'll be able to get lots of pictures of team roping, which I enjoy watching. Either place sounds fine to me I will have to figure out which one has the best weather when I decide it's time to go.

I've spent two nights at Dome Rock's boondocking area, and I would definitely say that there are not near as many people here as there should be. In fact, I'm not even sure it's as crowded as it is on regular days, much less during the Big Show. Dome Rock is a favorite place for the off-road vehicle guys, but there sure aren't many of them running around, as far as I can tell.

The Old Fat Man suggested in a comment today that he's not seeing as many RV people on the Texas Gulf Coast as there used to be, and the more I think about it, the more I concur about my current winter travels. I don't know why that would be; maybe folks don't have much money anymore. Or perhaps travel just got too expensive for the average RVer. Whatever it is, it seems to be making it easier for me to find a place to boondock.

Sail on brother, sail on.

Sometimes, the mountains glow red in the fading sunlight, giving the boondocker’s a beautiful view.
