The Big Show is almost over

The 10-day forecast calls for daytime temperatures in the mid-60s, nighttime temperatures in the mid-40s, and partly cloudy conditions for most days. I take that as a good thing since it gives me a better chance of some nice sunrises and sunsets. But cloudy days will raise the humidity into the 20% to 30% range, so 65° will not be as comfortable as it normally is.

The Big Show is still ongoing, but tomorrow is its last day. There will still be many RV dealers selling outrageously sized and incredibly expensive RVs in town. And the giant flea markets will still be here, so really, the only thing that changes is the humongous tent will be taken down, and all of the hawkers selling "magic mops" and "never wax your car again" potions will pack up their dog and pony show and go looking for gullible people in other places.

I still need to do some laundry, but again, the laundromat's parking lot was full, and since I've been there many times, that generally means that you have to wait for a machine to empty before you can start washing clothes, and that doesn't appeal to me at all.

I'm assuming that by early next week, half the RVers in Quartzsite will be gone, and like me, they will be searching for somewhere warm, fun to be, and more than likely... free. I haven't figured out where that will be yet, but I'm sure I will wake up one morning and know exactly where I want to go, and even if I don't, I’ll somehow manage to get there anyway.

I decided to spend the night at another BLM boondocking area named Hi Jolly. I seldom stay here because it’s always so crowded, and I think it’s crowded because there’s a nearby cell phone tower, which you can see in the background, so the phone and Wi-Fi reception is always better here.

I think the High Jolly area is smaller than some of the other BLM boondocking areas, so there’s less room to spread out.

You might think that folks boondock to save money, but I see just as many expensive motorhomes out boondocking as inexpensive rigs like mine, so there’s got to be another reason… And I think it’s the freedom to come and go whenever and wherever you want.
