Well, here I am writing my very first blog post on my brand-new website, and I have to admit it’s exciting but more than a little scary.
My blog is more than just a sheet of paper that I write on. It's like a home to me, a Journal or even a diary. But whatever it is, it's a big part of my life. Thinking about it, writing it, correcting it, correcting it some more, getting tired of correcting it, and publishing it anyway—it ends up being a big part of my life.
Here's some inside information about me and my blog. Due to my one-track mind and terminal laziness, I tend to do things when I feel like it and not necessarily when they need to be done. And that's the way it is with my blog.
Sometimes, I write my blog at night, and it might not be about the previous day; it might be about tomorrow! How do I manage to predict the future like that? It's easy. Remember, I write about what I'm doing, what I'm thinking, and what I'm thinking about doing. This means that I can write a blog about what I'm thinking, and you can't tell if I'm thinking about that today or tomorrow…and sometimes, neither can I.
If I was always writing a blog about what I'm doing, I could make some minor changes and post the same blog every day because, like everyone else, I'm mostly doing the same thing every day.
Living in a home with wheels doesn't actually make life interesting; all it does is make it easy to go somewhere and stay as long as you like... if you want to.
As you already know, I stopped making videos because they were too time-consuming and difficult, and I didn't seem to have the talent necessary to make them look "pretty."
I've been thinking that since Squarespace gives me 30 minutes of free video time, maybe I could make videos that last for one or two minutes, something simple like showing where I'm boondocked, that would be easy to make, and require no talent. I could put them on my Squarespace website without following all the rules and jumping through all the hoops that YouTube forces you to do. And when I hit my free 30-minute limit, I could either delete them all and start over again or put them on my YouTube channel where they don't limit your time.
Sometimes, I need to challenge myself, like forcing myself to make videos, To stay out of the rut of my normal life, taking my brain out of cruise control, and doing something different. And that's difficult when you're getting old because most old geezers hate change, avoid new things, especially new places, and much prefer everything in their lives to be exactly as it was yesterday, last week, and last year.
It's an endless battle to avoid the stagnation of my normal life. But most normal people are perfectly happy just the way things are and are lucky indeed.
But there are a handful of us who can't resist putting on our traveling shoes and taking that road less traveled to a place where time has no meaning, the skies are blue, the days are warm, and life offers just enough challenge to make you appreciate every sunrise and sunset, and the freedom to enjoy every minute in between.
