Decisions, decisions.

Today was too windy to do much. I planned to go to the Vulture Mine Museum today, but the gusty wind made me cancel that idea. So far, tomorrow looks okay.

Going to the museum tomorrow might mean I will be heading for the "End of Trail" cowboy shoot at Ben Avery gun range on Saturday. Or I could go to the museum Friday morning and then to Ben Avery Friday afternoon. But I have to do a lot of walking at the outdoor Museum, so I'm not sure if I would feel like driving to Ben Avery after that.

I'm also considering going to Ben Avery tomorrow and then coming back to Wickenburg sometime next week. It's only about an hour’s drive from where I'm boondocking in Wickenburg to the Ben Avery gun range, so that's not such a bad idea. It would take the timing pressure off of me to get to Ben Avery before the End of Trail contest is over. This whole thing is my fault, as usual. I knew the End of Trail shoot was this month, and if I had written it on my calendar, I wouldn’t have had to make these decisions.

Best of all, it would give me two or three days to take pictures of the cowboy shoot and then come back to Wickenburg, where I would have plenty of time to do the other things that I want to get done, like visiting the Mine Museum, watching some of the Team Ropers do their roping thing, and spending some time in the nearby town of Congress, Arizona, where I always enjoy boondocking.

You may notice I haven't mentioned climbing up the little hill nearby so I can get some pictures of the trust land area I'm at, and that's because I haven't figured out what I want to do yet. Other than taking a couple of snapshots and the possibility of a few video clips, there's no real reason for me to go up there other than to prove to myself that I still can, but maybe that's the best reason of all.

The dry wash I walk in gets much wider as the land levels out and the rushing water slows down.

It’s too bad I’m not here when these Sonoran Desert Yucca plants are blooming; they are really beautiful.

Sunrise in the Sonoran desert, a time of new beginnings, a time of hope, and often a time of personal reflection…wondering why the heck you’re standing outside in your pajamas this early in the morning?
