Sunny and cloud-free
It looks like I won't be blessed with pretty sunsets and sunrises since clouds are not predicted for a while. It's mostly going to be blue skies and sunshine, with very few clouds in the 10-day forecast. And it looks like the 80s for the high and 40s for the low are going to be normal around here for a while. And that sure beats the ‘90s I was dealing with in the Phoenix area.
Other than walking in the boulders or on various hiking trails in the area, there's not much to do at City of Rocks. There are two Walmarts in the area that I could go to, one in Deming, New Mexico, and the other in Silver City, New Mexico, and both towns are about 35 miles away in opposite directions. Deming's claim to fame is Rock Hound State Park, which is nearby, and Silver City allegedly has a connection to famous gunslinger Billy the Kid and the Kid's mother.
I was thinking of making another video of myself walking through the boulders, mostly because it gives me something interesting to do. I can compare my first video of walking through the boulders with my second one and see if my video-making abilities, or disabilities, as the case may be, have gotten any better or any worse.
And speaking of videos, I'm almost finished with the brief video of my new boondocking spot at City of Rocks. I think the only thing I have left to do is find some music for the video. I tend to like almost any kind of music, except jazz. I can’t stand modern jazz; it doesn't sound like music. But I realize most people don't like most kinds of music, so picking out a song is not easy, so I'll probably just go with a song that I like at the moment, which is usually an old song that was popular 10 years ago, and I've just now heard it.
Theboondork
The old boondork is happily ensconced in a boondocking site beside the boulders. But this is not one of my favorite sites. I have two favorite sites here at City of Rocks, and one of those sites is almost always empty, and the other favorite site is almost always full. But when I arrived the other day, both of my favorite sites were occupied. So I grabbed anything that was empty, and this morning my favorite site that’s usually empty was truly empty, and I hopped in early in the morning.
It’s hard to tell how big these boulders really are in a picture, but as a rough estimate, I would say if you stood the biggest bus on end, that’s about the size they are.
This little Schoolie is cute, but certainly not as big as the boulders it’s living beside.
That’s some big protection for such a little Cactus.
