Literally, over the hill.
Lacking anything better to do, I walked up the little hill near my boondocking spot and took a few pictures. I also made a few video clips of me going up and down the hill, which I will someday turn into a movie before I get too old to use a computer, which might be the day after tomorrow. But when the mood hits me, I may put together the briefest of boring movies just to show that it can be done by an old geezer who's over the hill, and in this case, literally over the hill.
The hill itself was no challenge, being neither very tall nor especially steep, but it was covered with fist-sized rocks that lay on the surface, so they would move when you stepped on them. This made climbing the hill interesting and going down challenging. Falling on the rocks would have been no fun, but what's an adventure without challenges? Isn’t that just normal life?
I'm looking forward to visiting the Arizona Outdoor Expo at Ben Avery's gun range this weekend. There are always many interesting things to see, and everything is hands-on. Kids can fish in the fishing ponds; you can climb in and out of the boat displays and shoot a variety of rifles, shotguns, and handguns that interest you. There's also archery equipment available for you to try. Although it will be crowded with a large number of people, it's always fun.
And speaking of archery, I've had bows since I was a little kid. I made my first bows myself, and I received my first real store-bought bow as a birthday present when I was 12 years old; it's a longbow, and I still have it in storage.
Sometimes, I wish I carried a bow with me so I could shoot at some of the places I boondock, but having a place to store the bow and its arrows would be a problem in the Lance. Carrying around a target that would stop an arrow would also be challenging, but oftentimes, I really miss being able to shoot.
