Barrel racing !

I arrived at the barrel races an hour or two before they started, so I could secure a parking spot close to the arena where I could easily access the camper and charge batteries or change lenses if needed. And I must say, they couldn't have picked a prettier day for it. In the mid-70s, with a cloudless sky and single-digit humidity, it is a perfect winter day in Arizona.

Getting somewhere very early is no longer a problem, thanks to the Lance; I go inside the camper, make breakfast and a cup of coffee, and wait until whatever I'm there for starts—one of the many benefits of having your home with you all the time.

Gone are the days when I would have to sit in the truck and wait for something. No more forgetting to bring something I needed; everything is always with me. And no matter where I am, I've got all the comforts of home because I am home.

As a good example, it's currently 10 AM, the barrel racing doesn't start until 12, and I'm sitting in the camper, right next to the arena, sipping a cup of coffee and writing this blog post. And since the barrel racing will be going on for hours, when I get hungry, I plan to walk 50 feet back to the camper and cook some lunch… I live like a turtle and couldn't be happier.

By arriving early, I was able to get a parking spot right next to the arena. And I might as well sit in the camper here as anywhere else.

An hour later the parking lot was starting to fill up.

This is a full hookup campground right next door to the arena. I'm not sure if they allow regular RVers to camp there; it might be exclusive to the contestants.

The barrel racing arena before it got tracked up. Since it was outdoors, It made taking pictures a whole lot easier for me.

The contestants are just starting to show up, and everybody's nerves are on edge to the point they can barely play on their phones.

The tension mounts as the start of the contest draws near.

I'll have pictures of the contest tomorrow.
