Cold weather ahead ?

The weather was beautiful today, with just a few scattered clouds in the sky, which hopefully will be enough to give me a nice sunset, the mid-70s for a high, and humidity in the teens. I couldn’t ask for more.

The long-range weather forecast calls for very cold weather for most of the country next week. I don't trust long-range weather forecasts; too many variables can go wrong when you're predicting the weather three or four days ahead of time. But if that forecast is true, my Denver family will be in for snow and bitterly cold weather next week.

So far, the weather forecast for the Sonoran desert areas where I’m boondocking looks like it will be in the 70s and 80s for the entire week. Hopefully, that holds true because I'm doing my best to escape zero temperatures at night by staying close to where the Saguaros grow.

When I returned from town yesterday, I went to Dome Rock to Boondock for a few days instead of returning to Plomosa Road. I'm pretty sure I'll leave Quartzsite sometime this week, and at the moment, I'm leaning toward going to Wickenburg, Arizona, which is a smidge less than 100 miles from Quartzsite.

Wickenburg is about an hour northwest of Phoenix. Fortunately, Saguaro cacti grow there, so I should be fine in my never-ending struggle to stay warm.

My new boondocking spot at Dome Rock. I don't care anything about building a campfire or cooking over an open fire, so a fire ring does not interest me at all. But some folks love their campfires and decorate the area to demonstrate the value they place on it.

Dome Rock is on the right. The light-colored paths you see on the sides of the mountains are actually old gold mines and the mule trails to get to them. These have been enlarged into Jeep trails by the off-road vehicle crowd so they can explore the old mines. Is that dangerous? You bet your life it is!

It doesn’t take an off-road vehicle to boondock here, most folks just boondock at the bottom of the hills and walk or drive off-road vehicle up to the mines.
