When can I leave?
It's starting to look like the weather is not cooperating. The first front is coming through tomorrow afternoon, bringing much chillier temperatures and the possibility of snow on Wednesday morning. Then, next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, another front is coming through, bringing more rain and the possibility of snow.
Looking at all that, the best time for good traveling weather would be next weekend. However, I don't like to travel during weekends because if you have mechanical problems, it's more difficult and expensive to get a tow truck and repair work done. However, I really wanted to stay here until after Halloween, so I may have to wait until the weather gets better next week.
I'm in no hurry, of course; I can leave whenever I feel like it. I don't like dealing with the snow and cold here in Colorado this time of year. But it's not just Colorado. Looking at the long-range weather forecast for Las Vegas, New Mexico, where I plan on spending a few days, the daytime highs and nighttime lows are almost identical to Denver when Iām there, so it's going to be hard to escape chilly weather until I get to southern Arizona.
But that does give me something to look forward to when I get back into the desert again. Those single-digit humidity levels make even chilly weather feel good. But that's a long way off, especially if New Mexico state parks are going to price me out of staying there anymore. I will have to look around and see if I can find other places to stay in New Mexico that aren't so inexpensive.
