another cold front coming through
It won't be long now, and I'll be heading South to escape the cold, but I will have to deal with a little cold while I'm still here. Tomorrow, nighttime temperatures are going to drop down into the 30s. Then, on Wednesday, for the next week, which is as far as my 10-day forecast goes, highs are going to be in the 50s and lows in the 30s.
So the weather is going to change dramatically, which will remind me of why I spend my winters somewhere else. I don't know what day I'll be leaving, but it will probably be Monday, the 4th of November; it just depends on the weather.
Sometimes, this time of year, it can get rather windy, not just here in the Denver area but down the line in southern Colorado and New Mexico. There have been several times when I've had to spend more than one night in the Walmart parking lot in Trinidad, Colorado, because of the winds that made it difficult, if not dangerous, to travel, so I always check the weather before I leave, but sometimes the wind can just come up out of nowhere.... Mountains can do that to the weather, especially in the passes, and I'll be going over Raton Pass.
I consider myself very fortunate to be a boondocker and not have to worry about reservations for the places I go because the highly variable weather in Colorado and northern New Mexico would make it difficult to always be on time. So it takes a lot of stress out of my life to leave when I feel like going and get somewhere when I feel like getting there.... And not a minute before.
Theboondork... Brand-new blog, same old boondork.
My family had a Halloween party on Saturday night, and everybody had to wear a costume.
I wore my usual homeless bum costume, but everyone found it so frighteningly realistic that I had to stop panhandling the guests and stay in the camper for the rest of the night.
The neighborhood I’m in shoots off more fireworks on holidays and puts up more Halloween decorations than any place I’ve ever seen.
Here’s a picture of me discussing my travel plans with some friends.
I’m not sure what this represents, but it might be a dad playing with his young child, and if it is, it makes me very sad.
