I never should’ve stuck around till Halloween
I'm writing this about 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. I crawled out of bed early to get my computer going and check the weather conditions, and they were not looking too good.
I was hoping to be able to leave today since the snow has all but stopped, but there are areas of I-25 south that are still closed. Since the sun is supposed to come out today and tomorrow is expected to be sunny all day, the roads should be in pretty good shape by Sunday, so I'll just shoot for leaving tomorrow.
Traveling on a Sunday is not my first choice because finding auto repair help if needed is much more difficult, but on the bright side, there's usually not much traffic. And I say "usually" because I-25 is closed from Denver all the way to Las Vegas, New Mexico, and I-70 is closed from Denver to the Kansas border, so I'm not sure what the traffic will look like when all those people are turned loose.
So, as I write this, it's still hard to determine when I can leave. I'm hoping for Sunday, but that will depend on how much sunshine we get and how many snowplows are working on the interstates. But the Colorado Department of Transportation, "CDOT," makes it easy to tell with all the information they give everyone on the Internet. So, all I can do now is keep an eye on the current road conditions on the CDOT website and make my leaving decisions based on that.... I never should've stuck around here till Halloween!

PS…I’m writing this at about 4 p.m. on Saturday. The snowplows and sunshine have worked wonders on the highway, so I’ll leave tomorrow morning. Maybe the next time you hear from me, I’ll be spending the night in Trinidad, Colorado, at the Walmart parking lot.
A freezing cold sunset.
Icicles hanging from the Lance’s feet.
There’s a car under there. This is what happens in Colorado when you don’t have a garage to put your car in...good luck getting to work on time.
