Yet another brief delay

I woke up this morning and put on my traveling shoes, planning on leaving and heading South. The roads looked pretty good, the sun shone brightly, and everything in the camper was packed and ready to go. But the Colorado Department of Transportation says there are still icy patches on I-25 southbound, so I figured one more day of sunshine would be perfect, so, yet again, I’ll wait until tomorrow morning and leave then.

Oddly enough, this morning, I-25 southbound was closed in three places between Denver and Trinidad, Colorado, because of accidents. I'm sure clearing them up won't take long, but it did appear that it's possible that opening up I-25 caused too many people to be in a hurry to get out of town and not pay enough attention to those icy spots.

But I'm in no hurry and have never been since I went full-time. The Arizona desert and the giant Saguaro's that inhabit it will still be there no matter when I show up, and so will the beautiful areas where I boondock. And this freezing cold, snowy weather has done its job of reminding me that Colorado is no place to be in the wintertime, especially when I'm taking blood thinners that keep me wearing a jacket in 70° weather.

As always, I'll miss my family, but the desert and its warm sunny days are calling. Even though the 10-day weather forecast for Denver is predicting nothing but bright sunny days, in Colorado, you never know when that will change, and those bright sunny days will become weeks of snow and miserable cold, so I've got to get out of here before that happens again.

The recreation center, where my grandson’s team plays basketball every Saturday morning, is only a few miles from the house.

My grandson dribbling to the basket, while his dad, the coach, offers encouragement.

My grandson, In the middle of the picture wearing the number five, shows the size difference in some 10-year-olds. I know It doesn’t look fair, but what can you do? They’re all 10-year-olds

Here’s another look at the size disparity between two 10-year-olds. So far, my grandson’s team is undefeated, and my son-in-law insists it’s due to excellent coaching.
