fall break

The grandkids were supposed to be taken to the sports fields this cold, gray, wet morning. My granddaughter's soccer competition was supposed to start at 8:30, and my grandson's flag football was supposed to start at 10:30. But with no sunshine available and humidity at Florida levels, it was not a good time to be a spectator.

But, as a spectator, I was decked out in thermal underwear and the warmest coat I owned. It turns out I should've put some pants on over my thermal underwear since they are actually not very warm when worn alone.

But, as they say, ‘‘the best laid plans of mice and men Gang aft agley’’ so my granddaughter and son-in-law woke up not feeling too well this morning, and my granddaughter had a fever

Today was the last day of the grandkids' soccer and flag football events, and my granddaughter was going to hang up her cleats. However, my grandson will play some basketball starting next week, which at least will be indoors, which is good with a Colorado winter coming up.

The grandkids were out of school for the last two days. I think they were calling it a Fall break or something like that. These kids definitely get a lot of breaks during school nowadays. The school teachers get the entire summer off, but for some reason, they still get lots of breaks during the school year. If I had to deal with a bunch of screaming kids all day, I might need a break also.

I'm still preparing the camper for my winter travels, removing some things and rearranging others. No matter how hard I try, I can't help but notice that things get put into the camper, but very few things come out again, which means the camper gets heavier and heavier every year. In less, I make a concerted effort to remove things every once in a while. But no matter how many times I thin my herd of possessions it doesn't get any easier, it seems like spending a lifetime of accumulating things is a difficult habit to break.

Now my granddaughter knows what it’s like to have a LITTLE brother.

Something doesn’t look right here!

Now, my grandson has a TINY sister.

Okay, okay, the kids didn't actually shrink. They visited the Museum of Illusions yesterday since they were out of school for a few days for their Fall break. I didn't go because I have no illusions about how I look.
