a basketball Saturday
I went to my grandson's basketball game yesterday and had a great time watching the kids run back and forth. I've never been a big fan of basketball because the whole game seems like people running back and forth all the time, which never seemed very interesting to me.
Obviously if your 8 feet tall it would be your game of choice, but you would probably want to stay away from doing the limbo, or baseball where the strike zone would be down around your knees. But I've always wondered why don't exceptionally tall people go out for track and field? You would think if your 7 1/2 feet tall your legs would be so long you would only have to take half the amount of steps the other people would, and for the high jump you should be able set a world record by stepping over it. And pole vaulting would be a piece of cake since you could get over the bar using a very short pole.
But since I'm not in charge of the Olympics, and haven't even been interested in them since they gave professional athletes the green light to enter it seems like the Olympics lost its whole point of existing which used to be a showcase for the best amateur athletes in the world because there's already plenty of opportunities and venues for professional athletes to compete.
But apparently unbeknownst to me the Olympics had nothing to do with showcasing and awarding amateur athletes around the world, turns out it was about money all along, and the Olympics found out there was more money to be made showcasing multimillion dollar athletes than struggling amateur athletes, who for better or for worse gave their young lives to the sport with little or no compensation, just the love of the game.
