High prices are a way of life in small towns
I have found that the best way to go grocery shopping at these relatively small grocery stores that charge relatively high prices is to put the essentials in my grocery cart without looking at the prices. I've realized that it doesn't matter what a jar of instant coffee costs, a few ounces of butter, or a block of cheese, I've got to buy it anyway, so why ruin my day worrying about the price? After all, I still have the opportunity to ruin my day thinking about everything at the grocery store I used to buy but can no longer afford. But that's okay; looking back at the things that I can no longer afford, I realize they weren't good for me anyway.
I paid four dollars a gallon for diesel fuel in town yesterday, and I believe that's the highest price I've paid for diesel in a while. But it's a small town in the middle of nowhere, so costs are expected to be high.
I'm planning on being back in Denver around the middle of May. I've got a lot of things to do this summer, and getting back a little earlier than normal will help me catch up. So, to accomplish that and get out of some of this heat, I'm going to start heading back to southern New Mexico pretty soon..
I figure that will give me about a month to slowly work my way back up through New Mexico into Colorado. And yes, that is a long time to drive a measly 650 miles. And yes, back in my traveling days, that would take me most of the day, but I would get there by dinner.

I finally finished a brief video of my new camping spot at the old rodeo grounds in Ajo, Arizona. Yes, I know that’s a long time to make a 40-second movie. In fact, it's so long now I'm in Tombstone and have ANOTHER movie I need to make.
A motorcycle is passing by. This person is so small, I think it’s a girl.
