Where can I hide from the upcoming heat?
I just relaxed today, neither doing or thinking about doing anything at all, which seems appropriate for a Sunday. I think I'll be leaving the Phoenix area and heading somewhere else next week, but I’m not sure where that should be. The weather forecast is calling for some serious hotness next week, with temperatures in the 90s early in the week and a few days of temperatures over 100° later in the week. That's the Phoenix forecast, so maybe I can find someplace a bit cooler than that.
I'm sure it won't be the Quartzsite or Yuma area since the temperatures there will be about the same as in Phoenix.
It appears that Wickenburg is slightly cooler, even though it's only 30 or 40 miles away, due to its higher altitude.
Ajo is a wee bit cooler, but not by much.
Tombstone, Arizona, is substantially cooler; they don't have any 100° in their forecast. The problem with that is it costs me $10 a night to boondock in Tombstone.
Deming, New Mexico, doesn't have any 100s in its forecast, and visiting there would put me in the area of Rock Hound State Park and City of Rocks State Park, both of which offer free boondocking for me. My only concern would be whether there will be any more cold weather in New Mexico once I arrive. I've got to slide over to New Mexico one of these days; I just hadn't planned on doing it this soon because I'm not sure if the warm weather will stick around or not.

Storm clouds over the Arizona trust lands as the sun sets over the desert.
I was caught by the passenger. I'm a couple hundred feet from this road, standing next to the camper, and you would think no one would notice me, but they do. It must be my "will work for food" vibe that follows me everywhere I go. Little do they know that I have no intention of working, but I’ve always loved motorcycles. Maybe I could make a sign that says…. “Polish your bike for food.”
Behind the firing line where everybody hangs out if they’re not shooting a bow.
Archery contest vendor. Obviously, selling more doodads to hang on your bow. I guess eventually your bow gets too heavy to pick up and you have to get rid of it and start from scratch.
Archers checking their target butts. As you can see in this picture It appears that a lot of the shooters are Just as interested in their neighbors butts as their own.
