Rainy, cloudy, and chilly

Today was a rainy, cloudy, and chilly day. Because of all that, I didn't get outside to do very much.

I got up before dawn and walked up to the top of the hill to see if any pictures were worth taking. But because of the high humidity, the 50° high for the day actually felt like half of that. So walking around wasn't any fun, and as I've mentioned before, walking is all there is to do here.

I finished my Christmas shopping yesterday, and it was easier than the way I used to do it many years ago.

As you all know, procrastination is a big part of my life, second only to laziness. So, as you might imagine, my idea of Christmas shopping was to show up at the biggest mall in Miami, Florida, on Christmas Eve and then run from store to store trying to find the eight or ten Christmas gifts I needed to buy. Standing in long lines, staring at empty shelves, fighting for the last remaining Cabbage Patch kid, dealing with the wall-to-wall crowds in the mall, and always expressing amazement that I wasn't the only one shopping on Christmas Eve.

But Amazon's Jeff Bezos solved that problem for me, and it's lucky he did because I don't know if you've noticed or not, but there are not many malls left anymore. With a few clicks of my trustee trackball, one of the gifts arrived at my daughter's house within a few hours, and the rest are due on Saturday. Christmas shopping is done.
